A Final Act in Death.

Alex knew how the rumors had spread, sharing what little he could with Chrom before they had shackled him under the accusing reason that he is Plegia, son of the head of Grimeal and the vessel of Grima himself.

The chains weighed heavily upon his frame and his body had thinned out for lack of food as several nobles wanted him killed for his blood and role. He could still recall the rage that Tharja had unleashed when she learned that he was to be imprisoned, wasting a few guards and nobles before Chrom had calmed her down, understanding what was happening was not any of their doings. Alex breathed and the guards outside twitched, fearful for any attack when he spoke. "Tell me, Lieon, how has your wife been?"

"Oh, she is fine, sir." Alex chuckled at the response before taking it again.

"Sir?, I am no longer the tactician of Ylisse so there is no need for formalities."

"But you..." The guard started, but the other shook his head, though Alex did see a tear stream down from beneath the helmet. "I am sorry, you are right, sir."

"Whatever makes you feel okay." Alex tested the chains again and smiled at the strength of them. "It never surprises me that these are strong, but they feel a bit stronger than I had originally believed."

"Sir, Captain Sully sent these to us with hopes that they would serve as a exchange, but..." Alex nodded, silencing the soldier as he gauge the chains again. Forged with a blacksmith's touch, he could see why Sully would send these to trade him out, but the looks of it told that the nobles were too rotten, using the very tool to keep the prisoner chained until his execution...

...By his own friend...

Alex shook his head and looked up to the ceiling, the guards giving him a moment as he spoke. "Naga, I care not what happens to me, but spare my friend from this dark deed."
"My blood may flow with the essence of Grima, but I ask that you spare your blessed line from the dark deed that will come."

"So please, give him strength to watch and prepare him for the darkness that is to come."

The crowd roared as Alex was lead out from the darkness, into the light and he was shocked inside that he was taken to Regna Ferox, standing in the arena that the Sheperds had been victorious those three years ago, except now he was the guilty in a court of nobles that wanted blood, noticing that Grima had come, meaning that there was another vessel to use, the questions remains as to who.

The former tactician shook his head as he was led up the block with several barbarians stood ready with axes, all Feroxians and knowing their duty with heavy hearts. "Easy, it is just the twisted agenda of some Ylissians, they are just afraid of something better than them." Alex gave a smile and the barbarians nodded as they gave him a final look over before tying him down and making way for his executor who Alex found to be someone different, her eyes cold to him. "I figured that Chrom would have someone else kill me while he empowered his blade for Grima."

"Spare me your chatter, tactician." Lucina held her blade to Alex's throat. "You are but a scourge upon us, die for your crimes."

"Then tell me, by whose hand do you swing for, Chrom or the nobles?" Alex pointed his head to the stands with a section was of the royals who cried for his blood. "I ask not a pardon, but for you to return to your father and present him my robe to let him know of my death." Alex watched as tears fell to the ground, understanding that her charge will be done at the cost of Chrom's heart. He closed the eyes for the last time as the blade cleaved through his neck.

Alex stirred and found he was not dead, but the landscape was not of a common origin. He surveyed the land before a voice spoke. "Alex, stand before me." He turned to find ... Naga, the divine dragon herself. For a moment, he was stunned, yet slowly approached and bow on one knee at the 'goddess' "Lady Naga, I am pleased to look upon your form in death, but I am the doomed to die."

"No, that is not to be true, not to me or Marth's line." Her hands glided over Alex's cheeks as she continued. "Grima may have lived in you, but you are never to be the one to perish for the false words of others."

"May have?" Alex stood up as Naga moved back. "What has happened to the Fell Dragon?"

"Your death was not the usual kind, you who has surrendered it all to allow the exalted blood to live on, for you have changed how Grima was to be defeated." Naga waved a hand and Alex saw the fatal blow, meant to cut his head from his body, but suddenly, the blow lessened and Alex's eyes opened blood-red and he roared an unearthly sound, the arena crumbling from the sheer volume before wings sprouted out of his body and shot him toward Grima while Lucina watched out in agony and shock. "By instinct and heart, you had ended both your father and his religion's agenda as you faced the monster himself alone, unaffected by his influence and ended both your lives."

"I see." Alex turned back to his surroundings and looked upon its wonder. "Then it is proven that I am dead, gone from the world."

"I would like to ask for forgiveness for your end, but it is only if none have remembered you and your bonds with them have faded." A door opened behind Naga as she gestured to it. "Return back to your home, you deserve to live as any other." Alex slowly walked to the door, a hand reaching in before he looked back.

"Is this our only meeting?"

"Yes, it will be, you are no longer held in the reigns of Grima." Alex nodded and passed through the door, the light closing as Naga vanished as well.

Alex awoke to the morning sky, his eyes blinked several times as he sat up and finding that he still wore his tactician cloak and his weapons.

The only thing missing was his mark of Grima, vanished as if it never was there. 'How can this be, did I truly kill Grima?' The questions bounded about his skull like his lost memories, but for now, he decided to enjoy his new start again, heading to Ylisstol to see how everthing was.
A one-shot of a event that never happened in the Awakening world, but it had a chance of happening as some people may be self-righteous of what must be done, even without the consent of their ruler, people who take things into their own hands.

Perhaps it is a bit dark and 'Sole Avatar savior' vibe on it, but I feel that I should have given a shot at the FEA story while I think of my stickmen.
